Restylane and Juvederm Fillers: A Primer

Injectable fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm brands, are used to add volume to areas where we have lost it due to age.
Consider the youthful face as an inflated balloon; when it starts to deflate, the balloon will develop wrinkles and sag. Similarly, as we age, we lose collagen and fat, which caused our faces to droop, resulting in wrinkles, lines and occasionally a hollow appearance. We can use fillers to restore a youthful appearance, by filling lines and also by volumizing the face.

Restylane and Juvederm brands of fillers are made from non-animal hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-found substance in our skin. Hyaluronic acid draws and holds water and provides added volume where injected.

There are many different filler products and each one plays a role.
Restylane products include: Refyne, Defyne, Silk, Lift and Restylane-L.
Juvederm products include: Ultra, Ultra Plus, Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella.
